On the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group officially launched a free artificial intelligence (AI) training program designed for African public servants, aimed at optimizing the efficiency of the continent's public services through increased mastery of emerging technologies. This ambitious program is part of the Government AI Campus initiative developed by the Apolitical platform.

To carry out this mission, the AfDB has partnered with several globally recognized strategic actors. These include Google, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) via the AI Hub for Sustainable Development, as well as prestigious academic institutions such as Stanford University and the SDA Bocconi School of Management.

In other words, this tailored pedagogical path will allow state executives and decision-makers to assimilate the opportunities, risk management, and practical applications of AI in public procurement and administrative innovation. This upskilling primarily addresses a major economic challenge for the African continent.

Indeed, it constitutes the direct realization of the recommendations set out in a recent strategic study by the AfDB. According to this report, the successful and inclusive integration of AI technologies could generate an estimated productivity gain of 1 000 billion USD for Africa's gross domestic product by 2035.

Nevertheless, to unlock this colossal financial potential, team training and institutional governance remain two essential pillars. Furthermore, this project relies on solid international cooperation supported by the G7 and Italy through its Mattei Plan for Africa.

The learning process takes place entirely online, thus adapting to the pace of each civil servant engaged in the modernization of digital infrastructures, public-private partnerships, and administrative management. Thanks to this cost-free accessibility, the Bank's member states now have a concrete lever to accelerate the technological transformation of their public services and stimulate regional economic growth.
