The BRVM is struggling to regain momentum. For this new session, the downward trend continues, with a broad predominance of declining stocks.
Out of the 39 securities that recorded a variation, 30 closed in the red, compared to only 9 in the green. This imbalance reflects the scale of the declines on the market and accompanies the pullback of the main indices.
The BRVM-Composite thus yields 0,81 % to 520,27 points, the BRVM-30 declines by 0,78 % to 252,04 points, and the BRVM-Prestige drops 0,74 % to 192,83 points. In detail, the sharpest declines concern Erium, which loses 5,29 % to 1 610 FCFA.
The CIE follows with a retreat of 3,85 % to 5 000 FCFA, while the BICICI yields 3,78 % to 30 800 FCFA. These corrections illustrate the difficulties encountered by several stocks and contribute to the general market decline.
Counter-trend, a few stocks nevertheless manage to stand out. Total Sénégal records the best performance of the session, with an increase of 7,25 % to 3 700 FCFA.
The stock leads Vivo Energy Côte d'Ivoire, up 4,35 % to 2 160 FCFA, and SETAO, which gains 4,22 % to 1 975 FCFA. These advances provide some brightness to the session, without however reversing the general trend.
With 30 stocks down out of the 39 that varied, the gains remain too few to offset the declines. In terms of market capitalization, ETIT records a loss of 36,17 billion FCFA, accentuating the decline in market valuation.
This development highlights the influence that the movements of certain stocks can exert on the overall market capitalization. Trading is largely concentrated on Sonatel.
The stock totals 1,38 billion FCFA in transactions, representing approximately 53 % of the total value traded during the session, which stands at 2,6 billion FCFA. This concentration makes Sonatel the main hub of market activity, in a session where the intensity of trading was not accompanied by a recovery in the indices.
