Sellers dominated trading this Thursday, October 1st, without, however, managing to shift the trend. Of the 47 securities that drove the session, 25 finished lower, against 14 higher, revealing a clear predominance of selling pressure.
Despite this configuration, the BRVM-Composite rose by 0,12% to 549,02 points and the BRVM-Prestige by 0,07% to 203,94 points. Only the BRVM-30 fell slightly, by 0,04%, to 265,98 points.
This resilience is mainly due to Orange CI. The operator's stock gained 1,40% to 21 800 FCFA, generating 45,20 billion FCFA in additional market capitalization on its own.
This contribution largely allowed for the absorption of losses recorded across a large portion of the market. The progress of the Composite thus appears more as the result of the strong performance of a few heavyweights than as the expression of a generalized upward movement.
In terms of performance, Unilever CI nevertheless stood out with a jump of 7,37% to 51 000 FCFA, marking the strongest gain of the session. BICICI followed with an increase of 3,67% to 33 800 FCFA, while Oragroup TG gained 3,45% to 3 000 FCFA.
Conversely, Servair Abidjan CI suffered the largest correction, with a decline of 7,42% to 3 370 FCFA. Setao CI fell 6,52% to 2 150 FCFA and Total CI by 5,94% to 3 010 FCFA.
These marked declines testify to the extent of the sell-offs carried out in several segments of the market. Regarding activity, trading totaled 3,04 billion FCFA.
Sonatel concentrated the highest traded value, with approximately 839,16 million FCFA, or 27,61% of transactions. More than a quarter of the capital traded was thus focused on the Senegalese stock, which confirms its central role in the liquidity of the regional market.
