The BRVM began the week in the red. This Monday, 5 October, sellers clearly took the upper hand, with 27 declines against only 12 gains.
The three indices thus retreated by more than 1%: the BRVM-Composite fell 1,39% to 539,17 points, the BRVM-30 lost 1,31% to 261,11 points, and the BRVM-Prestige shed 1,25% to 200,30 points. This pullback marks a clear acceleration compared to Friday, when the Composite had limited its decline to 0,41%.
Orange CI recorded the largest loss in market capitalization of the session, amounting to 106,21 billion FCFA, increasing pressure on the market. In the top losers, BICICI recorded the largest correction, with a decline of 7,38% to 31 305 FCFA.
Bernabé CI followed, shedding 7,18% to 1 810 FCFA, while Filtisac CI fell 6,57% to 1 850 FCFA. These three securities thus lost more than 6% during the session.
Against the trend, some stocks nevertheless advanced. Nestlé CI led the top gainers, with a gain of 3,89% to 15 490 FCFA, ahead of Africa Global Logistics CI (+3,73% to 3 060 FCFA) and SMB CI (+3,31% to 16 995 FCFA).
On the trading front, activity remained virtually stable. The total volume stood at 3,54 billion FCFA, up slightly by 0,65% compared to the 3,51 billion FCFA recorded on Friday.
Sonatel alone accounted for approximately 1,87 billion FCFA, representing 53,01% of the total traded value, compared to 46,47% in the previous session. However, the stock finished virtually flat, down slightly by 0,04% to 44 980 FCFA.
