The BRVM ended the trading session this Thursday, October 8, in positive territory, despite a session largely dominated by pullbacks. With 25 declines against 14 advances, selling pressure remained strong but was not sufficient to tip the indices.
The BRVM-Composite thus gained 0,09 % to 548,41 points, while the BRVM-30 and the BRVM-Prestige rose by 0,11 % to 265,60 points and 0,19 % to 203,61 points, respectively. This resilience of the indices is mainly due to a few large-cap stocks.
ETI notably rose by 3,03 % to 68 FCFA, generating a gain of 36,17 billion FCFA in market capitalization on its own. A contribution that helped absorb part of the pressure exerted by the numerous pullbacks on the board.
The most significant gains were concentrated in several securities. Onatel BF topped the list with a gain of 6,32 % to 2 945 FCFA, closely followed by Setao CI, up 6,30 % to 2 195 FCFA, despite having been among the significant decliners earlier in the week.
TotalEnergies Marketing SN completes the trio with an increase of 5,26 % to 3 800 FCFA. Outside the top three, Bridge Bank Group CI also continued its ascent.
The stock gained 2,51 % to 10 200 FCFA, confirming the asset's strong performance since its listing at the end of September. Its progress, however, comes in an overall less favorable environment, marked by a clear predominance of pullbacks.
Selling pressure indeed resulted in particularly sharp corrections on several stocks. Palm CI recorded the largest drop of the session, with a decline of 7,46 % to 7 750 FCFA, following the publication of semi-annual results that were down 41 %.
Sucrivoire CI gave up 7,04 % to 2 510 FCFA, while Alios Finance CI ceded 5,70 % to 4 050 FCFA. All three securities thus fell by more than 5 % during the session.
Trading totaled 2,78 billion FCFA. Sonatel accounted for the largest share of transactions, with approximately 966,27 million FCFA traded, representing 34,78 % of the total market value.
