The financing of the Cameroonian private sector is benefiting from a new influx of resources. Last June, a Luxembourg-based fund established a financing facility of 25 million euros for the benefit of Afriland First Bank Cameroon, intended to increase the resources available to the institution to support companies and high-potential projects.

The operation was facilitated by TEMAS, a firm specializing in advisory, structuring, and financial intermediation, based in Dakar. The firm acted in connecting the parties, structuring the transaction, and supporting the financing process.

Additional resources for the Cameroonian economy

Beyond the financing granted to the bank, the challenge lies in the capacity to transform these international resources into credit for the real economy. The facility is thus intended to enable Afriland First Bank to have additional medium- and long-term resources to further support companies active in several strategic sectors.

PME and ETI, agriculture and agribusiness, trade, industry, as well as local value chains are among the areas likely to benefit from these resources, in accordance with the eligibility criteria and guidelines defined within the framework of the facility.

For the fund, this operation is part of an impact investment strategy geared towards the sustainable development of African value chains. Its activity notably covers the financing of agri-food companies and financial institutions committed to financing the real economy.

TEMAS, the connecting link between capital and financing needs The transaction also highlights the role that African financial intermediation actors can play in accessing international capital.

In this operation, TEMAS served as the interface between the various stakeholders, contributing to the emergence of a financing solution that meets the needs of Afriland First Bank. A function that takes on particular importance in an environment where African banks are seeking resources with appropriate maturity to support the development of private sector credit.

''This operation demonstrates that structuring and intermediation work carried out from Africa can effectively contribute to connecting African banks to major international capital sources'', emphasized TEMAS.

Based in Yaoundé, Afriland First Bank Cameroon is among the country's leading banking institutions. It supports businesses, PME, individuals, and institutions through its commercial banking, corporate finance, and project finance activities.

The bank is not at its first operation with an international financial institution. In April 2025, it announced a facility of up to 60 million dollars equivalent in euros, obtained from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), intended in particular to increase the financing of Cameroonian PME.
