West African Resources produced 360 857 ounces of gold between January and September 2026 thanks to its two assets at Kiaka and Sanbrado. After a record third quarter, the Australian group confirms its annual target of between 13,4 and 15,2 tonnes.
West African Resources (WAF) produced 360 857 ounces of gold in Burkina Faso during the first nine months of 2026, or approximately 11,2 tonnes. This performance places the Australian group well on track to reach its annual target, set between 430 000 and 490 000 ounces, equivalent to 13,4 to 15,2 tonnes.
As of the end of September, WAF had thus already achieved between 74% and 84% of its annual forecast. To reach its target, the group will need to produce between 69 143 and 129 143 ounces in the fourth quarter, according to the quarterly note published this 7 of October.
A level that is accessible given the 127 950 ounces, or nearly 4 tonnes, delivered between July and September. The Australian group describes this third quarter as a new record.
Its production rate has now reached more than 500 000 ounces on an annualized basis, confirming the change in scale initiated with the start of production at Kiaka alongside the Sanbrado mine. Kiaka becomes the main productive asset.
In the first nine months of the year, Kiaka produced 209 305 ounces, or approximately 6,5 tonnes of gold. The site now represents 58% of WAF's total production, compared to 151 552 ounces, or 4,7 tonnes, for Sanbrado.
This distribution confirms the rapid ramp-up of Kiaka. In the third quarter alone, the mine delivered 76 030 ounces, up 13% compared to the previous three months.
This growth was supported by a 15% increase in processed ore volumes and a recovery rate of 93,1%. Sanbrado, for its part, produced 51 920 ounces in the third quarter, bringing its cumulative total to 151 552 ounces since January.
The site's quarterly production fell by 10%, mainly due to the decrease in volumes processed by the plant. Nearly 1,6 billion USD in sales.
The industrial performance is accompanied by significant sales volumes. WAF sold 350 127 ounces of gold over the first nine months of 2026, at an average price of 4 550 dollars per ounce.
These sales represent an indicative gross value of nearly 1,6 billion dollars. At the same time, the group is continuing to develop its capabilities.
During the quarter, the Burkinabe authorities approved the integration of the M5 South underground deposit into the Sanbrado mine plan. Work has begun and extraction is scheduled to start in the second half of 2027.
At Kiaka, however, the supply of explosives remains an operational constraint. The authorization to operate a manufacturing and storage unit has not yet been granted.
The use of a second supplier has improved the situation, but the group still considers this issue to be a point of vigilance. With 11,2 tonnes produced in nine months and a record third quarter, WAF approaches the final part of the fiscal year with a comfortable lead over the lower end of its annual forecast.
