The 2 billion USD mark invested in African technology start-ups, excluding exit operations, has just been surpassed for the year 2026, reveals the "Africa: The Big Deal" platform. According to this database specializing in tracking venture capital and financing in Africa, this progress demonstrates a faster trajectory than in 2024, a year during which this level of global capitalization was reached only in December.
However, "Africa: The Big Deal" specifies that the current fiscal year shows a slight lag compared to 2023 and 2025, where this two-billion threshold was observed as early as August. Despite a slowdown in activity in September compared to the volumes recorded in June with 515 million USD and in August with 455 million USD, the overall momentum remains sustained.
Observed trends from previous cycles suggest an aggregate annual transaction amount approaching 3 billion USD by the end of the 2026 fiscal year. Historical analysis of financial flows confirms the continuous consolidation of this ecosystem.
Since 2019, the capital injected into African start-ups has exceeded a cumulative amount of 25 billion USD. These financial resources have benefited a total of more than 2 600 technology companies, each having closed at least one funding round of 100 000 USD.
The attractiveness of African technological solutions continues to draw diverse investors, thereby consolidating the growth of emerging companies across the continent. Anselme Akéko Published on 28/09/26 12:03 The Editorial Staff
